This poem is in The Madrigal as part of a collection entitled “Dissonance”, speaking to the various cognitive and actual dissonances of modern life. I am grateful to the editors, Helen and Gale, for including my poem, for a very speedy and efficient turnaround time, and for the delightful experience of the issue launch on Zoom. “Dissonance” is available online or in hardcopy — there are some amazing poems in there so do check it out.
Sometimes poems just arrive. This one slipped in unnoticed from the mirror world and flowed onto the page, appearing there as if it had always existed.
Beautiful, a gem of a poem.
It had me at "cars whine painfully". Love--thank you for sharing your work!
